...that was always a good cheap spot to grab candy or a drink before going to the overpriced movie theatre. Looks like I'll have to find an alternative.

That mall is starting to quickly spiral downward towards Roosevelt Mall level. It's barely a step above Franklin Mills so the changes are to probably help make a change for the better. Last time I was at that theater I thought I was at the Orleans. The travelers make their way up to Neshaminy and ruin the movie experience for everyone. I'll go to KOP, Plymouht Meeting, or CHerry Hill any day before I ever go back to Neshaminy

I have to agree with the mall's decline.
This mall is on the downside like Granite Run has been, but it has been going down slowly. That is possibly because there has been a lot of new home development nearby, office parks have been set up in Neshaminy and in Trevose, and the Home Depot and the new Wal-Mart nearby have attracted more interest in retail in the area. The biggest problem with the mall is the bland early 1970s exterior it presents to the world. The interior is more acceptable... lots of ambient light. There is also poor signage for the mall along Route 1/Boulevard directing people to the mall, unlike Franklin Mills which has prominent signage. It's less noticeable to people from New Jersey who may not even notice that it's there and instead they opt to go to Cherry Hill--although they'll probably enjoy CH a lot more than they would Neshaminy even though they might be buying the same items. For larger ticket items... don't most people smuggle stuff into Pennsylvania from Delaware? Christiana Mall gets packed on Fridays and the W/E.

There really is no signage for Neshaminy Mall, just the exit sign itslef and if you miss the exit, you're pretty much screwed. The design is just as bad at Oxford Valley Mall. I really think it's the clientel at the mall that's starting to make it decline. Too many looking for a reason to start trouble, and not enough looking for a reason to spend money. I was in Montgomery Mall about a month ago and even that mall could use a makeover.

As much fun as it is to share a night out with friends for dinner, drinks and a movie - it's just getting more frustrating to deal with the element that creeps into the nicer areas and truly does ruin the experience for everyone else. Even if they may not be seeing the same film, they are just obnoxious while in line. It's just not worth it. |

Dragon you couldn't have put it any better. I made the mistake of going to Franklin Mills on a Tuesday for movie night. Absolute nightmare. It's not the neighborhood kids causing the problems, it's the travelers making the experience one of pure aggravation. We went to see Narnia and had to see it a second time for the sake of people on the cell phones, kids out of control while the parents did nothing and acted as though it was our fault we went to see the movie he was there to see. The 2 theaters in Plymouth Meeting are not very well known and it's always easy to get tickets and have an enjoyable experience

There used to be a Bar/Restaurant with an external enterance near the current SEPTA Bus stop. I think it was called Cocos or something like that. There also used to be a children's haircut place with great slides and places to hide and get in trouble. Are the moving figures outside Strawbridge's still there? Still in working order? |
