Default Resources for People Just Relocated to Philly

I'm doing some research into Relocation Resources for Philadelphia... such as websites with really great information, magazines designed for people new to the area, any groups that hold events for people who've just relocated, resources for college students who are staying in the area after college (keeping recent grads here is a major problem, I know), etc. Can anyone help me out here???

I'm doing this for research for my own company (I'm a Philly native myself), but I thought in addition this would be a great topic for your board. Please write me back at temetnosce25@aol.com or just post a reply here. Thank you Philly Blog members!

- Al

Well, for starters, what about PhillyBlog.com? I think there's a tremendous amount of new information here and a lot of helpful people eager to share their enthusiasm for the city.

Then there would be Campus Philly:

and YIP, Young Involved Philadelphia:

I think most people who are thinking about moving to Philaladelphia should check out the city governement site.

www.phila.gov

you should also check out Philadelphia's Board of Revision of Taxes (Philadelphia real estate transactions) You can look up a property's last sale or other assessment. You can also look up streets and see all the sales. This is really good for seeing comparables and sales movement.

A big issue that people encounter when moving to Philadelphia is to understand the Philadelphia Wage Tax and Business Tax

Here is a PDF "plain talk" tax guide to Philadelphia

http://www.phila.gov/revenue/pdfs/Pl..._Tax_Guide.pdf

This year if you live in the city of Philadelphia you will pay 4.26% wage tax.

Can anyone tell me why all of the Philly government sites are not working? I know this thread is from last year, so I thought perhaps the links were outdated - that's not the case. Even when I google "Philadelphia Government" or "Philadelphia's Board of Revision of Taxes" the same exact links show up & they give me a "could not be found" or "cannot be displayed" error. I then thought it was my brower (Mozilla) so I tried another (IE) and got the same outcome.
I've been trying for 5 days so there's definitely something going on...any help would be appreciated
