Hey El,

If I remember correctly, you're in Callowhill? There's Red's on the corner of 13th and Callowhill. I like the work they do and they're very friendly.

Hope this works out.

P

Default Car Repair/Body Shops around Fishtown or off the L

Hey everyone!

I am in Fishtown and need a trustworthy mechanic to check out my car (1999 Ford Escort) before i sell it and the same or another place to replace my passenger side mirror torn off in an accident. I don't necessarily need to go to someone in Fishtown, but maybe something off the L would be good so I could return home when i drop my car off. Northern Libs, Kensington, Fishtown, Old City, maybe even West Philly would be fine.

thanks!

Default Body shop recommendations

Can anyone recommend an auto body shop in Philadelphia (preferrably CC or South Philly)?

Thanks.

This might be more of an anti-recommendation, but I tried Wilkie once (on N. Broad st near the subaru dealership). It should've been a simple job to blend in new paint at some marrs and dings covering the front quarter panel and hood (concrete fell on the car from a parking garage - ergo someone else was footing the bill).

1. They fixed the wrong area the first time around.
2. Which resulted in a total of three weeks until I had my car back.
3. The paint job was ok, but not impressive.
4. They pushed off the work until the last possible second (ie, they had promised it by a certain date and knew when I would be there to get it), so I don't think they were focused on a quality job.

Thanks. A recommendation not to use a certain shop is just as helpful. Of course, I'd like the repairs to be performed as soon as possible so I don't need to rent a car for an extended period.

I've used BodyLines Collision in S.Philly before and they were very good as well as reasonably priced. I was recommended there by a friend who has had good experiences with them as well. They will drop you off and pick you up as well from Center City if you ask them.

Here's the address and phone number:

1120 S 12th St
Philadelphia, PA 19147
Main Phone: 215-755-2909

I believe I dealt with Bill (the son, not the father).

Default Auto Body Repair Shop

I need to take my car to a shop to have some body and paint work done. Can anyone suggest a trusted and reasonable shop in the city or vicinity? Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

I recommend Keenan ( www.keenanautobody.com ). They've been around forever and they did a great job with my car, including fixing some things that the dealership did sloppily when they serviced my car.

My car just quit and the shop says that there is a short in the alternator but the alternator is still good. anyone know how much that should cost. I am just wondering if I am getting a fair price.
