Default Furniture Stores

My very first post...woohoo.

I'm shopping for furniture for my new home. I'm looking for stores that sell modern and sleek styles at reasonable prices. So far, I've checked out Dane Decor and Grossman Furniture. Liked a few pieces at both, but am looking for other suggestions along the same vein, so I have a bit of choice.

Also, are any of the furniture warehouses (on Cottman and that area) worth checking out? I'm willing to travel to Delaware and Jersey too.

Any and all suggestions welcome! Thanks...

Maybe you've already thought about this, but if not...IKEA!

It's in Conshohocken now, near the Blue Route. One of these centuries we may have one in South Philly too.

Yeah there's Tons of furniture store on main street, for the home, there should be like 4-5 (including restoration hardware and pottery barn).

Great inquiry--I've been meaning to post this for awhile...

What I'm looking for is more traditional decor, pretty quality built...I need a new bedroom set and the idea of interest-free financing is very appealing to me. Can't afford Ethan Allen, but Somnia is too modern for me (been there) and cheaply constructed and the dresser I like in Ikea was out of stock...

I'm not opposed to buying used either--esp. antique but in good condition. Anyone have any ideas for me?

The Dump in Langhorne is worth the drive...they have a lot of sofas, end tables...less modern bedroom furniture though. If you want something high end discounted, that's a great place.

Ikea at least has slide out guards on the sides of its drawers. Somnia has cheap wood brackets on the side and the drawers are hard to open. Plus, Ikea is a lot cheaper than Somnia. I'd rather pay $249 for a dresser that may last 5 years than $550.

Society Hill...I'll have to check it out.

So now the ladies are paying you in gift certificates, eh?

Yep, Crate & Barrel is like Somnia in that you're just paying for the style. Pottery Barn is the same way with its furniture. (Although sheets, blankets, curtains, dishes from both Crate & Barrel and PB I've been super pleased with). Somnia is considerably cheaper than C&B or PB, but Ikea always wins out.

I've heard there's a ton of places up route 610 or something like that?
