Can anyone give me advice about renovating a large building which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places?
The building is to be renovated as a commercial building, but I understand there are grants and tax rebates which are available, just not sure about the whole process. |

Try this link: http://www.phmc.state.pa.us/bhp/Funding/taxcredit.asp
If the property is also designated by the city, you should contact the Phila. Historical Commission too. |

I would recommend talking to the NKCDC for advice.. they funded the CSAH largely with Historic Tax Credits..
Basically I think in a lot of cases it works like this... _X_ type of tax credits are availbale ... you apply for and then subsequently get those tax credits.. ...you then sell those tax credits to someone for $ Heh, personally I dread historic designations.. it severely limits what you can do with a building.. and often times requires much more expensive supplies than you would have otherwise used (the windows on the CSAH for example were probably much more expensive than they needed to be had the building not been historical.) |
