Default Young Involved Philadelphia Urban Design Forum April 30

My old friends at YIP are holding another of their trademark forums on a topic near and dear to the heart of many a PB policy/urban affairs wonk/nerd. Try to attend - YIP forums are always stimulating, bringing together intriguing panels and generating strong discussion. And afterwards there's always the possibility of drinks!

Young Involved Philadelphia Urban Design Forum

What's next for our skyline?
With a host of major development projects in the works -- including new condos, hotels, and one of the world's largest towers -- planning, development, zoning, and civic design have been hot issues in Philadelphia news. However, there has been much debate over how to improve the quality of the city's planning, development and design. What are the issues facing our neighborhoods and the city, at-large? How do we compare to other major U.S. cities? How can we put Philadelphia on the right track to become a growing, competitive metropolis that values planning, design, and the quality of our built environment?

Confirmed speakers for the evening's forum are:

* Judy Applebaum, President - Washington Square West Civic Association
* Bart Blatstein, President -Tower Investments, Inc.
* Alan Greenberger, AIA, Principal - MGA PARTNERS, Vice Chair of the City Planning Commission, and outgoing Chairman of Design Advocacy Group
* Farah Jimenez, Executive Director - Mt. Airy USA
* Harris Steinberg, AIA - President of Penn Praxis
* Moderated by Gregory Heller, Planning & Design Analyst with the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission and long-time Young Involved Philadelphian

WHEN: Wednesday April 30th 6:30pm
WHERE: Conference Room of the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission,
190 N. Independence Mall West - southwest corner of 6th and Race streets
WHO: Free and open to the public, YIPCivicEd@gmail.com to learn more

How long do the forums usually last (as in, if I show up at 7:15, will I have missed pretty much all of it)?

No, I don't think so. There's usually a pretty lengthy Q&A at the end. I'd imagine it wrapping up by 8 or so. It'll still be worth your time, I think.
