Default Lights Out at Liberty One

Anyone know why the lights at One Liberty Place have been out for so long (i.e. November)? I know they're working; I've seen them on briefly--once at 6:00 a.m. and another time around 6 p.m. It's a shame visitors to the city miss out on what I consider to be one of the prettiest/"coolest looking" aspects of our city.

I've been thinking that it's some protest against the opening of the Comcast Center

The skyline def'ly looks naked w/o it.

Isn't that sort of like protesting the rising of the sun?

The other buildings got all their protesting done when the tax break debates were going on. But that's water under the bridge now... time to move on.

Probably repairs. The neon tubing is rather old and malfunctions often.

Liberty 2 was lit up last time I looked at it. Pink neon (breast cancer I'm guessing).

Both towers are slated to have the neon removed and replaced with LED lights that are more durable and more energy efficient.

And from where I read elsewhere March is when they are to be done.

If you work hours like i do (and have my incredible skyline views) you'll actually see that most of the skyline gets "turned off" at night. My guess is that it has something to do with the energy bills

Is One Liberty the one with the new residences are? It may be that the original lighting was placed in such a way as to be problematic for people living there.

they tested the lights on liberty 1 thursday/friday at around 6pm. The lights were changing colors like lib 2 does now. It looked very nice.

Liberty Two has the new lights. I think the replacement of the old neon lights with LED came along with the condo conversion. Liberty One is probably just taking a little longer to catch up.

I noticed that last night, they look awesome! Finally the skyline is back. Now if Comcast would do something with the dark stump at the top of their new building.
