Now that's good planning and zoning.

That's pretty much my point.
Neighbors were up in arms for years because the old bar was a sh*thole dive that catered to underage jersey kids(not perception-they were busted three times for it over the years). Yes, the place was a mess. I can remember several other nearby places that used to be a mess. They're now beautiful places that cater to locals and visitors alike. The simple fact is that the place could of easily been turned to an amazing commercial on the first floor with the typical condo environment on the top floors. I looked at the place before while debating such a transition. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the place that would of prevented such a transition to a respectable place with decent housing above. The only reason why I didn't do it was because I haven't been in the restaurant business for years and I'd have to heavily rely on friends until i reacquainted myself with the ins and outs. Some neighbors think they want commercial properties taken away from our area, but as soon as that happens the neighborhood will take a dramatic downturn as so many others due to the lack of options readily available.

Although purely opinion, if the site had to be homes I thought they should at least integrate with original nearby architecture. The Martin Luther King projects do a better job at architecture than those places.

I agree though, that's faint praise. |

David Auspitz allegedly turned in his resignation as ZBA chairman.
Zoning lawyers, property owners, architects, community groups and neighbors alike can rejoice. Now we can actually have a professional zoning hearing process which applies the zoning code and is not an embarassment to the city. Hopefully the other shoe will drop and we can get rid of the other ZBA stooges leftover from the Street administration. They are guilty for carrying Ausptiz' water. |

...every cookie monger and deli owner in the city will be grinding you into their next corned beef special, alesis.
anyone who thinks the Jewish mafia is a myth is sadly mistaken. You just have to be Bar Mitzvahed and take it like a man... I still want to know why making good reubens qualifies one for the head of Zoning in the big city...
