Love ya, babe, but it's douchebag, as in "TheAdlerian is a douchebag." Deutschbag would indicate some kind of German heritage (which would be a really funny pun, actually).

Wait, what's a duetschbag? Is that a douchebag for two? That's just weird. Is a Deutschbag a German hygiene product?

Your coments illustrate what I said about Philaelphia and art...most Philadelphians have neither the intelligence or inclination for it...I say this as a LONG TIME resident who knows a bit about the subject...the Avenue of the Arts?...it was a nice idea/gesture but there is no interest...look at the Clef Club, for one instance...the old Clef Club was in an American Legion hall in South Philly; Philadelphia has produced many wonderful jazz musicians, who would have been reduced to begging spare change in the subway concourse if they would have stayed here; the original Clef Club was an after-hours type place where jazz musicians who weren't gigging at the time would get together for jam sessions and benefits in a relaxed environment...it would usually cost $5 to get in, the beers & drinks were reasonable, and, hey, you could smoke!...Hey, genius, you ever hear of John Coltrane?...well, members of his great quartet would often jam down there: Jimmy Garrison, McCoy Tyner etc...anyway, it was laid back & cool, but eventually people lost interest and it folded...so, the city spends a ton on a new Clef Club, which was supposed to be a showcase for jazz musicians, a more classy environment...what happened?...people in Philadelphia didn't care, didn't come, so now the place is opened on special occasions, if at all, and is begging for money to stay alive...as far as other things happening on the Avenue, tell me, WHAT?...other than the Kimmell center, which is for credit-card toting suburbanites who want a nite in the BIG city, what is there?...nothing...the Wilma theatre?...does anyone go there?...the YWHA at Broad & Pine has an occasional event; I saw Patti Smith reading poetry there in 1975...you got the Tritone on South Street, but people don't want to pay even $5 a head to go in and hear a band...Bob & Barbara's?...they have an old organ trio on Saturday nites, and they have to work for tips...the streets are packed, and you see people from all walks of life when attending the opera & ballet?...how much does a ticket or subscription to the opera or ballet cost?...You have the FACADE of an art scene...and as for you, Hospitality Girl, whether you are a man or woman, you are so out of touch with the real Philadelphia, you wouldn't even know where to get a good cheesteak! |
