Yeah..

The city wide plan would be to get rid of the poor stupid trash..

and then we'd be like San Fran, Portland, Austin, etc..

But then who'd vote for people like Street and Blackwell etc...

They keep it effed up on purpose.

Welcome to reality.

I'm not really worried about the Penn Praxis Plan...it will be ignored an shelved like dozens of other "strategies" to fix the city. No one...not any bank with stockholders would fund such a scheme as this plan suggest..

and if they do it would further plunge the city into the red with all the required bonds to pay for all the infrastructure required... and all we'd end up with is some more yuppies crying for a new school cachement and a fancy new community center and a bike lane and some new PCS spots..

All this mess costs cities money...and if your living tax free for 10 years (abatement)... your wage tax isn't covering the cost... but hey...whine about the murder rate but then whine about taxes...like most of Phillyblog..

There's only one strategy that works... find a way to get people jobs. Retain them with good schools.

Hope the values shoot up enough to force out the undesirables.

See: University City.

university city. everybody just keeps on talking about university city...what happened at ucity was penn, that's what happened...if every college in the city had the resources of penn, there'd be a hell of a lot more ucities in the city...like east falls (philly u), olney (la salle), or lower north philly (uh, the other one).
also it seems that whenever you have an artists' hotspot, land values shoot up, and the artists themselves go bye-bye. are they your undesirables? what will happen when the artists get up to frankford, the ne, or any other area of the city.

a keynesian bargain may well be just what the city needs...

I don't think "the artists" will ever find much to support their craft/community/lifestyle/business in the Northeast...

They'll wash their hair and get jobs.

Default where r we on the river walk project?

I live in Tacony one of the nicest Riverfront Neighborhoods Around, and I was wondering when the Riverwalk project will get underway. The old Dodge steel sight is cleaned and ready to go for development and I happen to know to any developer out there, that there is a huge opportunity for the empty nesters in South Jersey, sick of paying high school taxes and energy costs!!!! Get BUSY! Tacony will support you and give you a nice venue on the Torresdale ave if we can get the city to stop allowing fly by night churches to open in traditional retail outlets!!!

Marina View is a dead as a doornail. The other four in that listing are under construction, the Pearl being nearly complete.

The Skinny hasn't been updated in a while. Unfortunately there are a lot of cool projects that were approved or prepped and then fell apart.
