My skyline is just fine, thank you very much.

I read that book, "Skyscraper", in grad school...I don't remember that. I'll accept it as truth though cuz it's funny.

It looks like the Comcast Building will resemble Robo Cop's unit when it's done.

How tall is the John Hancock Center?

I think that structure is one of the handsomest modern skyscrapers out there, for the same reason I like the suspension towers of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, which the John Hancock Center's exoskeleton mimics.

The Sears Tower is more interesting from an engineering standpoint than an aesthetic one, but I still consider it an interesting solution to the problem of the monolithic modern tower.

Just imagine how awesome it would be if Philly could get one of those Calatrave bridges across the Schuylkill...instead of the mundane South St Bridge, for example.

From what I've seen of Calatrava's works, I agree... hire him for a grand city work and let him do what he wants!

1,127 feet and 100 floors tall (1,500 feet if the antennas are included).

I believe that it is currently (post-9/11) one of only 2 buildings in the US to have 100 floors or more (the other being the Sears Tower). The Empire State building claims 102 floors but I believe floors 87-101 (if they exist) are completely contained in the spire and not true occupied floors. The 102nd floor is a real floor since it has an observation deck.

I'd love to see the city, Fairmount Park and the port authority take the money necessary to build a Calatrava bridge and instead spend it on long-overdue maintenance.

This is a place where an eternal flame flickered out after about a decade, where maintenance funds for bridges go to build a soccer stadium and workers had to put up barricades around broken steps on the Schuykill River trail less than a month after it opened.

We don't need a crumbling Calatrava on top of all that.
