because a lot of that vehicular traffic in Center City is coming from South Jersey.. which only has one...kinda hard to access rail line for about 500,000 Ever drive around NJ? Getting to a Patco station takes just as long as driving into Philly. Almost everyone coming over the Walt Whitman, Betsy Ross, or Tacony in the morning doesn't have any option but to drive.

The 34th and UC stops at Penn se good traffic. The Patco line past 8th doesn't. From the SVM site... great maps! ![]() But I'm for one fare for those people (when they board...not twice and then a walk through a funk ass station) Because you can drive in the same time it takes to park, ride Patco, then switch, wait for a MFL train, then walk the 4 blocks from 34th. So a one seat ride would entice more riders...by cutting that ride in half to be competitive with driving. Lotsa people who live along 42 and 55 in NJ would love to not drive. They have to. So that's why I'd rather see 2 lines for NJ and a unified fare. But a one seat from NJ to West Philly also has merits. It's about removing cars from the roads and the lots in the city. Intra-city lines don't really do this (like a Del Ave line)

Zur: Are we talking about fantasy land or reality. Where will the city get the money? Unless Philadelphia wins a trillion dollars in the galactic sweepstakes it's never going to happen. A transfer to the MFL will have to suffice in the reality that we live in.

The deal also calls for Pennsylvania delegates of the DRPA to support expansion of the PATCO Hi-Speedline into Gloucester County and Philadelphia when such a proposal comes up for a vote. Rendell and the other Pennsylvania representatives on the Delaware River Port Authority, which runs ports, bridges and a commuter train line in the Philadelphia area, have been boycotting the agency's meetings since late 2005 in an effort to force New Jersey officials to agree to the dredging." http://www.courierpostonline.com/app...pdO6UZFDgSY%3D " In addition, DRPA will reallocate and split the existing $38.5 million dredging fund between the states for dredging, port infrastructure improvements and environmental projects that benefit the Delaware River and both states will support the expansion of rails systems in Gloucester County, N.J., and Philadelphia. " http://philadelphia.bizjournals.com/...4/daily24.html "In addition, as part of the deal, Pennsylvania would agree to an expansion of the PATCO High-Speed Line in Center City and into Gloucester County, officials said." http://www.philly.com/philly/busines...g_settled.html

The eastern terminus (NJ) will see the expansion. That is where it would do the most good. The western (Phila) terminus will not see expansion. At least not until they invent the hover train. |

"Center City"
does also mean "Delaware Ave" (trolley) Patco.. is well within their "control" to start helping this side of the river. (Camden's waterfront...build almost entirely by DRPA) -E-Center -Aquarium -Cambell's -USS NJ -L3 and related office space -RCA conversion.. and Philly?... Our turn.

It's not eitheror, it sounds like it's both. and extending it to west philly doubles in value if that tunnels serves two south jersey lines. not sure i understand the hover comment. Philadelhia has money, it just mispends it. Besides, these projects usually come with state and federal money
