Marconi's basically a dead area...that could be redone to make it useful..

and the various fields around the bridge could be landscaped and turned into more than lightly used baseball fields..
FYI. I believe that the lower left quadrant of the area you have marked in red isn't being used as park space at all and is quite possibly not even part of the park. My husband and I have gone exploring there and it appears to be a place to dump materials to be composted later (tree branches, etc.)

My own impression of The Lakes is that the park has its own unkempt charm as is -- a little trash patrol and graffiti removal would do wonders, and would take less than the couple million in improvements that Zur suggests. There's something to be said for not overmanicuring all parks -- kids have a better experience exploring if the park is a bit on the wild side here and there.

I don't want millions done but some cleanup should be done.

How underutilized is the lakes' building?

Marconi is a waste... I just think they could do so much to our parks to improve use and "visibility" to the surrounding areas.

People say there isn't lots of park in southern :South Philly: but there is...just kinda hidden.

I really think the DRPA could spend the money to spruce up the bridge ramps..

Most of the visitors from NYC come in through there...ugly cyclone fences and ads for adult stores on Softball fields.

Hey guys -

Would you all mind starting a new thread on this -- perhaps in the South Philly forum? I keep thinking there's some new news on Southbridge and it's driving me nuts!

Thanks!

A.
