Allrighty, I made my 9th support call into Comcast for yet another outage yesterday and the day before.
Last night, I got a call after forcing them to schedule a tech, and 'lo and behold, my connection has gotten stable again and the tech who called me late last night says "we fixed the problem and is it OK to cancel the visit?"
I said "OK". Last time they sent a tech it was a hottie, but oh well.
So now that I am working from home more often b/c my I-net connection at work sucks... I attached this to the outside leads to my house:
It's strange... the DC power converter has a 12 volt COAX output, which you plug into the upper left side. I then routed the signal cable through this amp, which is advertised to raise the incoming signal by +15dB, and the return signal (upload) by -5dB.
Hopefully this will stop the modem from losing signal again. We'll see.
As far as all my DTV boxes and my DVR box, they have all been working fine, but I suspect the cable modem needs a louder and clearer signal to work.
