It's like the whole city turned into Packers2 when the Ban came up for debate. "Oh let's not do anything about the murder rate, we need to take care of that nasty smoking!"

It's nice (and I say this as a former smoker) to be able to go out and eat in a restaurant or drink in a bar and come home not smelling of smoke. It's nice to be able to go to the Khyber and see a band and not come home with my eyes burning, in need of a shower.
As I said upthread -in fact the whole point of this thread- is that it wasn't a total band on smoking. I have no problem with there being bars where people are still allowed to smoke (for instance, Ray's Happy Birthday bar was terrible when they banned smoking, as you could actually smell what the places actually smells like).
I wasn't for a tital ban, I'm not for a total ban, and I'm happy with the way things are.
Because we all have choices now: I can choose to go to a bar and no have to deal with smoke, and you can chose to go to a bar where you can smoke.
Nice to see that BigMel has Godwinned the thread in 11 posts.
