You might want to try taking your bike. You could take it on the train with you as you would be going against rush hour. It would even be cheaper to buy a junk bike and leave it at the station than to drive. I have taken the R bus from Henry and Midvale to Hunting Park and Clarissa, then walked the four blocks to Wayne Junction, but it is a desolate stretch, and a bus passed us as we were walking, so you would probably want to make the connection.

Wayne Junction can be accessed from Wayne Avenue, and I wouldn't be uncomfortable leaving my vehicle on some of the streets off of Wayne Avenue north of the station, as they can be quite nice. Thus you would have a short walk if you want to drive to the train, especially in inclement weather.
