FWIW - The wall between the laundry area and the garage appears to be some sort of concrete wall, which it is, however it's actually thinner that you'd expect. All they did back in the day was string wire mesh from the floor joists to the cieling joist and then trowel on the cement. When it comes time to take it down, you'll find that it's actually a lot easier than you think it's going to be.
