Uh....I don't know if you were paying attention southstman, but this is a thread intended for shilling?!?! Do you not know the definition man?!?!?! Now straighten up that list and start including some of your own events in the hood or I'm reporting you!

Now, I suppose i should contribute here with a brief list of some neat places etc...

Las Bugambilias - I've eaten here so often at this point, they don't even ask what I want as my appetizer This is great authentic traditional Mexican food in a great, intimate setting.

Southwark - naturally, a fave haunt for many of us! Go, even if its just to have a drink to start your night out - or better yet, stop there on the way home from a night out and have a nightcap! Kip and George are classy and classic bartenders through and through.

Latest Dish - just when the menu was starting to get stale, Tony brings in a new chef and changes galore - and many of them are great! I still swear the tofu meatballs are really deep fried balls of cheese. MMMM, CHEESE!

Ugly American - another spot that I frequent a bit too often - a neat dinner menu with simple fare and reasonable prices... a great addition to that corner of the world.

Ms. Tootsie's Soul Food Cafe - Truly the best authentic soul food I've had in quite some time... and the atmosphere is friendly and much more inviting then Delilah's spot - - although Delilah still rocks the mac & cheese.

Of course, even though it's hard to imagine - i do more than just eat

Check out SugarTown - the last Saturday of each month at Tritone; a night of lady rockers and DJs produced by Sara Sherr ... I've caught some great female live peformances there and it's always a great crowd. For you 'oldtimers' like myself, last month featured a great set by ALICE COHEN - who used to be in the local band The Vels!

While out and about - swing by the 2nd floor bar of Lickety Split on a Thursday night ... for an old-fashioned punk rock party... talk about flashbacks to the old days of South Street ... quite fun indeed! Guest bartender is Rob (owner of Crash Bang Boom/Zipperhead)...

I'll share more later - but those are a few spots off the top of my head!

OH - and for a totally non 'nightlife' recommendation, allow me to tip my hat to Scott at the UPS store on South Street ... that dude goes beyond the call and has helped me on a few occasions; great spot for color copies and just about any printing need - no matter how large...
