What lewblum said ... gets crowded in summer, but they recently replenished the beach giving a little bit more sand to spread out on. Some drunken New Yawkers but lots less punk kids due to lack of boardwalk.

I recommend Surf City for middle of the isle access, mini-golf close by, easy drive/bike ride to Ol' Barney, some decent food joints near by, and my fav Blue Claw seafood for buying your own don't forget the Key Lime Pie too.

(Just don't dig deep enough to uncover the WWI munitions)
