Actually, using airport figures, from only two years ago, we actually moved into #9 in the country, so T + L, creator of that stupid poll that has us at #25 in attractiveness , is incorrect.

What to allocate to the marketing/branding arms of cities is a perennial problem. Most places underbudget them because it just seems so frivolous to spend money on tourism marketing when there. are. just. so. many. more. things. that. need. attention. It is the the guns or butter argument all over again. For the money that they do receive, PCVB and GPTMC do a fantastic job of marketing. We tend not to see the results HERE because we aren't targeted, we're already here. But, if my walk through town and the Reading Terminal Market yesterday is any indication, someone is really on the ball.

You know, I have been to some pretty funky places in the Village in Manhattan, I wonder if people are always trying to Disney-fy them? Yes, cleaner would be nice, but I see the trash trucks go down the street; trees are great, but the sidewalks are already pretty narrow, and between the chairs, the pedestrians, the storefronts, and now more trees, ouch, I just see as much potential for problems as not. Personally, I recommend tasers for those that litter, but that's for another thread.

Relax, and try to enjoy what is there, others seem to. Or, alternately, go to another strip.
