Not that I really want to get into this negative discussion, but I just wanted to point out that this is an incorrect statement, which was used to attack what someone else had posted.

If you look at the map at http://www.library.upenn.edu/dataset...s/1854twpa.jpg
(which was also included in the Wikipedia article that you must not have looked at before dismissing), it clearly shows Washington Lane as the border of Germantown, so even if Johnson Street is considered the boundary now, it has not always been.

And of course, as someone pointed out, the city signs (the one I see just west of Gtown Ave) on Washington also show it as the boundary. So I think it would be easier to say that it is an unclear division, rather than jump on people and make definative statements that aren't supported by all of the evidence.
