Interesting info. Thanks for sharing. I'm not one of those that religiously buys only things labeled "fair trade" so I'm kind-of agnostic about it and open to convincing arguments one way or the other.

I always thought a "fair trade" or "organic" item was more expensive because the difference was substantially going towards the impverished farmer or worker or artist in a poor country. This would be the obvious train of thought for most who are unaware of how the whole system of "fair trade" labeling etc works.
