some restaurants are known to hold an extra 20% (for what they assume the tip will be), and it stays in your pending transactions for a few days, and then the correct amount (whatever you authorized) posts to your account. i just wanted to point that out because i work at a bank and this happens a lot and people freak out... but what i think you're saying is the extra $40 dollars actually posted to your account?? that's unethical and that person should be let go.
