What Newspapers do Phillyblog participants read?
I'm wondering the types of news sources that participants of the blog read.
What are some reasons why or why not to read certain papers?
I used frequent flyer miles to get a free subscription to the WSJ but I'm tired of reading it - it is a daily mental workout to get through it - but once you get to know where things are that you care about, you skip the parts you don't want to read. The editorial content is often to the right of my politics, but I am sometimes persuaded and their arguments are always well presented.
The NYT has credibility issues lately, with that one journalist who falsified almost every story he wrote, a former editor spilling his guts in the Atlantic Monthly about all of the flaws in their organization, and now renewed criticisms of their overblowing the stories leading up to the Iraq war. I don't read the NYT much, except a rare Sunday when I have a few hours to be absorbed in it.
I think the Philly Inq is a breeze to read, the articles don't carry any intellectual weight, and it's editorial page is pretty weak. Plus I couldn't care less about Philly's sports until the playoffs, and only then when our teams make it to later rounds.
Philly Daily News - sports is only time I pick it up, unless I want to read it while in transit.
Other papers I mentioned I read even less frequently...
