As an outsider reading these comments, I'm just astonished that no one has proposed converting that lot into a public park. Fairmount is utterly lacking in any common green space, unless you count that one recreation field over towards Francisville. Yes, I know Fairmount Park is next door, but it's a hell of a walk from many parts of the neighborhood. This lot is right in the heart of the neighborhood surrounded by some of the most popular stores and restaurants. It's perfectly poised IMHO to become the "Rittenhouse Square" of Fairmount - - a sort of neighborhood gathering spot. But I guess I'm alone in my views.
